The new issue of Macworld Magazine has an article by Deborah Shadovitz about ManyCam for Mac. Go check it out online or buy the magazine.
“Typically, while using your Mac’s iSight camera with one program, you can’t use it with another. But ManyCam frees iSight from this restriction. ManyCam’s no one-trick pony though; it has other features–some helpful and others downright silly–that you’ll enjoy.”
Thanks Deborah!
ManyCam lets your iSight work with multiple applications at once

This is a really cool idea. I’ve had a bit of trouble running it on my MBP 17″ (original model on 10.5.7), as double-clicking does nothing. But I can double-click the executable after opening the .app contents and it works.
What I would like to see is the ability to combine multiple sources (say my iSight and the desktop, or two FireWire inputs, etc.) into a single VDIG output. Podcast Producer seems to see your virtual VDIG (podcast –devices), so that could be very useful for recording podcasts with both the “talking head” and the presentation, or speaker plus audience or whatever. I had imagined such an app that used Quartz Composer to do picture-in-picture and other sorts of arrangements.
Good show!

Charles,
We are working on releasing the new Mac version soon and I hope it will solve this issue.
I like your idea for the sources. We plan to do something like this, but it may be awhile before it is released to the public.
Excellent! I would be happy to test this out. We are always looking at solutions for the recording/delivery of academic content.
