ManyCam 1.0.30 for Mac OS X is now available for download. This new version has a lot of new features that Mac users were requesting like the ability to use ManyCam with iChat and Photobooth and the ability to mirror your video.
We have also fixed some bugs that may have been causing some Mac users some problems.
Please upgrade your ManyCam version and give us your feedback on this new software release. Directions on using ManyCam with iChat and Photobooth are available here.

After installing manycam on my iMac g5 wih an older Kensington USB webcam, I’m unable to use, Photo Booth, iRecord or CamTwist. They just give me a black screen (don’t see the camera)
Following the instructions to choose the quartz plugin from the video sources was a dead end as the”quartz plugin” doest show up at all.
The uninstall feature on the drop down menu doest work so I used app zapper. However, there MUST apparently be some further hidden resources tucked in the library somewhere as I still have to choose to start Many cam or another video source when i want to use my video apps. Where are they so that I can remove them?
PLEASE HELP. I want my camera back
To remove ManyCam from a computer by yourself you must be an Administrator of your computer:
/Applications/ManyCam.app
/Library/QuickTime/ManyCamVDig.component
/System/Library/Extensions/ManyCamDriver.kext
And from your home directory:
~/ManyCam
Also you must restart all applications that have used ManyCam before the uninstall.
You can also go to sources to choose your iSight to stop the black screen.
ManyCam doesn’t officially support G5 (PPC) Macs anyway. You can use it as a way to clone your video source to apps (other than iChat) on a G5 but most of the effects won’t work.
Would you please set iSight as the default source? If I donot run manycam and start some software like iChat, the default video will appear as a manycam logo.
All works great for me except the Sources/Movies function, I drag a movie into the Sources/Movies window of ManyCam and nothing happens, neither there are any button that brings me a way to select a movie file. I tried with .mov and .avi file type.
Thanks and good luck
I really enjoyed ManyCam for Mac 1.0.00. However I installed ManyCam 1.0.30 and now all I get is a blank screen. Do you still have 1.0.00 available as a download somewhere, I would like to re-install that version. Thanks, Jim
I upgraded to 1.0.30, but with it the cam shuts off unless ManyCam is the foreground app, which entirely defeats the purpose. Luckily I could recover the 1.0.0 install disk image from my Time Machine backup, so I’m not entirely hosed. There appear to be some substantial glitches that still need to be worked out with 1.0.30.
Hello, I’m just wondering if the ability to have a playlist of avi files under the movie source is going to be an option one day.
I mean, you already have the ability to loop which is pretty awesome.
I like playing music videos through webcam for my friends.
Thanks
I was bummed when I realized that this won’t work on OSX Tiger. How come you don’t have a Tiger version? Not all of us can afford to upgrade to the latest OS you know. Oh well.
Downloaded and installed ManyCam 1.0.30. It seems to have a few bugs:
1. It did not behave as an normal app. Feature or bug? No menus, no dock icon and does not show up in Application Switcher. As a result you could not switch back and forth between other apps and ManyCam without closing all other windows to find it again.
2. App stopped working correctly after I removed it from it’s original folder and dropped it directly into the Application folder, like all other osX apps.
3. Mirror function also mirrored on screen effects like the clock and text, this should not happen as it should only mirror main image prior to effect engine.
QuickCam Vision Pro as video source is still way too slow.
1) no menu
2) when you click on the red x it does not quit the program. it hides it, but it is still in memory. I had to use activity monitor to kill it.
I created an apple script to remove the program from memory.
Open Applescript and past the following.
then save it as an application as read only.
You can then put it on your desktop and when you want to quit, just click on the icon and it will remove the processes from memory.
property Thereis : false
tell application “System Events”
set TheList to get name of every process
repeat with i from 1 to the count of TheList
if item i of TheList contains “ManyCam” then
set Thereis to true
end if
end repeat
end tell
if Thereis is true then
tell application “ManyCam” to quit
set Thereis to false
end if
Works great and can be combined with all flashed based sites. Youtube, facebook, ustream etc. Also tested on Yahoo messenger. Can be combined with camTwist to add additional effects also. Doesn’t work with Ichat or Imovie, hope to see that fixed in future release. The Menu stuff was confusing and needs to be fixed. Overall great release seeing that there are few Mac programs in this area.
ManyCam was working fine…until I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Can’t find any sources.
I uninstalled, and re-installed…didn’t help!
I hope there’s an upgrade in the offing.
ManyCam also doesn’t work with ARSight, at least on the Mac with OSX 10.5.8 on a 15″ MacBook Pro laptop.
ARSight works if I let the default iSight camera alone, but once I select either of the ManyCam options, (RGB, Y’CbCr), ARSight will only open with a black screen, and trying to choose the iSight camera is impossible.
When clicking on the iSight camera option, the blue highlight switches to the iSight while I hold the mouse button down, but as soon as I let go of the mouse button, the highlight flips back to the ManyCam option previously selected. I can switch back and forth between the two ManyCam options and have the choice stay, but both result in black screens in ARSight.
If I hold the mouse button down for a while on the iSight option, then ARSight freezes, and has to be force quit.
Only uninstalling ManyCam will allow ARSight to see the built-in iSight camera again, and of course, only if I don’t select ManyCam in the source list.
Considering that ManyCam is supposed to enable the use of the webcam in several programs at the same time, this is an unfortunate bug.
Yeah i think i preferred manycam 1.0.0 for macs better. I can’t seem to use this new one on stickam. is there a way to re-install 1.o.o? ( i wasn’t thinking about putting it on time machine
)
ok wow i installed manycam2.4 and it worked fine but now when i try to use it for recording video’s on ksolo….it gives me 2 options in the cam setting for ksolo…either use manycam or what originally came with my computer windows vista chicony usb 2.0 i need to use the chicony to record and that was also a choice in my manycam…when i try to use that choice it shows me on my cp webcam and not my manycam with my effects. what should i do? manycam is supose to run off of my chicony but its acting for to different cams…can any one help!
The way it should work is to choose manycams, which will process the webcam’s video with the effects you want. If you choose the camera, then you will only record from the camera directly, without the effects.
How do i get many cam off my P.C?
