ManyCam 2.5 Released (Windows)

We are excited to announce the release of ManyCam 2.5, please download it now. We have made numerous improvements and introduced several new features along with making major enhancements to ManyCam’s video output module which have increased the application’s stability and reduced CPU and memory usage. Below is a summary of the most notable new features.

Picture in Picture

With ManyCam 2.5 you can broadcast video from two sources simultaneously. Enable the Picture In Picture mode to create a small video window inside the main one. For the second window you can select a separate input source. You can also move it around by Drag&Drop. Now you can use your webcam as the main video source and show your desktop in the smaller window at the same time. Or, if you have two webcams, you can broadcast video input from them simultaneously.

Recording Video Output

With ManyCam 2.5 you can record your video output (including ManyCam effects) and save it as a file. Just click the red record button, type a name for your video file and choose the location where it will be saved. With ManyCam 2.5 you can also pause and resume video playback with a single click.

Playlists

Now it’s possible to make a playlist consisting of numerous video sources that will play one after another. If you want to broadcast several video clips, you no longer have to select them one after another. You can include any video source in a playlist (a web-cam, a video file, a snapshot or even blank image) and set for how long it will play before switching to the next playlist item.

New Cool Effects

In ManyCam 2.5 we have introduced several new cool effects! These new effects are Night Vision, Thermal Vision, Cartoonizer, Matrix and Old Movie. You can find them under the Effects\Effects tab.  Please try them and let us know what you think.

  1. I tried to use Manyca 2.5, but the video was so slow (8/10fps), and I can’t use dynamic or static backgrounds because when I try to make snapshot, the snapshot window is all black then after i click take snapstot, is like the snapshoot contains only a zoomed piece of the entire image (the left up corner) that is all the snapshot.. Maybe is for the new directx interface not working. I found that the settings to force the size/quality of camera is disappeared now, i don’t know how to set up the size (320, 640 etc..), maybe is a bug. I have an Nvidia GeForce 9600 Gt Graphic Card (with latest drivers from Nvidia) on a P4 dual core pc. I tested directx with test and other application and is good and fluid, only with manycam i have problems of slow down of webcam, both is the manycam user interface and skype using manycam as webcam..
Who can help me? I can’t wait to find a solution :-)

  2. In the while, i reinstalled the old version :-)

  3. Jason says:

I had no problems with the previous 2.4.x versions. But the current ManyCam 2.5.48 does not work on my WinXP. DirectX 9c is installed and working properly.
When running ManyCam I get “Error Code: 0xC0150002 : The application failed to initialize properly. Click on Ok to terminate the application.”

I have to switch back to the last working 2.4.69 version. :(

If someone has an idea how to solve this problem, I will try it again.

  4. Mark says:

Playlist was the only thing missing in the old version and thankfully was included in the new version. Problem now is that I’m stuck broadcasting at 160×120 using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. That wount work for me so guess i will have to uninstall and wait.

  5. LendaUrbana says:

Actually, without being able to change the format of the output not to use this version I hope you’ll like it was before, now the creation of the playlist was a great improvement.

Please come back as it was before .. with an option to select video

  6. anastasio says:

Well i installed new version but the programs interface is not like it is supposed to be.i mean that some buttons don’t exist or some are hidden.columns are not on their proper position.effects worl properly but generally the interface is misworking.my graphics card is ati hd 4600 series and i didn’t have any working problems with manycam untill this version was released.i would be happy if someone could tell me a solution to my problem.

  7. Bruce Vu says:

Me too, ManyCam 2.5 virtual camera doesn’t work with me.
There’s a image said ” Please start ManyCam or choose another video source”
The old version is okay though.

  8. Mike Bishop says:

you still not have it right. Or I will say it does not work right with windows 7 32 bit. It to the areo effects out. Had to uninstall it.

  9. C-HAL9000 says:

(320, 640 etc..) Close up is where?? ! FAIL!!!!!!!!!

  10. Mathews Perryson says:

i found many problems in the last version; its impossible to read WMV files. the loop on video files doesn not work with AVI if many files are added on the list.

    ill downgrade

  11. JT says:

When I close ManyCam it quits just about all the apps I have running on my computer. Why is it doing this? Is there some setting I can change to make it stop this?

  12. william says:

version 2.5 crashes my windows 7 when I try to close it. Also, does not work with yahoo messenger using a camcorder and firewire connection.

  13. Ed says:

I downloaded the current version of Manycam… It shows no record button at the top of the image as indicated in the software description. Am I missing something to activate the record button? Using Windows 7 with Logitech Cam

  14. Cody says:

Just installed latest version of manycam…all is working well EXCEPT the fact that if I use the ‘record’ option, the video plays back fine BUT THERE’S NO SOUND! WTF? I like this feature, but if there’s no sound, then what’s the point? Settings are fine as I can use my default Logitech ‘record’ option and everything works fine!

  15. Karli says:

It works perfectly well for me, but if the recording feature doesn’t also record audio then it’s really quite useless!

  16. anastasio says:

Now i encounter a new problem apart from the interface being out of order.when i right click on the tray icon to exit program suddenly it requires to shut down the whole computer.this is sad cause if i want to close the program the whole system has to be rebooted…plz do something about that and for a good working interface, thanks!!

  17. admin says:

We plan to add sound in a future release, we are just slowly moving forward with the new features to make sure everything is stable. Thanks!

  18. Imran says:

I am facing a problem in using movie as a video source. Every time i tried to open a wmv file an error occurs which says ‘File Cannot be opened’. I dont know if this is a bug or i m doing something wrong. i have used movie source in the previous version in the same manner.
If anyone have knowledge about it, then please email me at imranalikhan@live.com

  19. Michael says:

I have Windows 7 and the new 2.5 manycam. The new manycam won’t play WMV videos for me. I can Play AVI okay but WMV works better for YouTube uloads. So, I have to render my vids in both AVI and WMV to be ale to use both Manycam and YouTube. I might go back to the old manycam version but I do like some of the other new features. Manycam, can you fix the WMV issue???

  20. anon says:

the only problem is, that the program is sooooooo slow.

i got much higher performance in 2.4

  21. saephron says:

so far so good on my Win7 x64.
but one problem, the output is forced to 160X120 in FLME.

  22. saephron says:

awwww one thing more. sorry for double posting.
the update rate for capturing desktop need to be set everytime when I change the source.

  23. Don Moore says:

Installed 2.5 on Dell D600 ATI 9000 Video – tasks panes overlap, no way to correct it, so I am switching back to 2.4.

  24. anonymous says:

Was this application actually tested before it was release? New version won’t play wmv or avi files where the old version would.

  25. billy says:

Crashes windows 7 when i exit the program

  26. anastasio says:

ok i return to the previous version, mine problems are interface with buttons out of place and invisible,i can’t control cam’s resolution and when i try to close the program whole system reboots.furthermore i see now that actually there is more pressure on cpu than previous one.i beg admins to focus on these remarks.thanks.

  27. padeadhead says:

When using the “custom desktop” as a source in the new 2.5 version, it does not allow you to drag the custom desktop region to a second display monitor.

  28. Margot says:

Ok, i understand that this program is free, thats ok, but you Manycam people have to work to fix many bugs on 2.5 version, for example wmv videos doesnt run.
Well i downgrade to 2.4, waiting for a new released version that works fine at all.
Thank you people, i will appreciate your effort

  29. zack says:

Yeah I really dislike the bug with WMV files :( Other than that it’s great! LOVE THE PLAYLIST FEATURE!!!

  30. zack says:

Never mind what I said, I don’t ike this version at all. All it says when I try to stream it says “Please start Manycam or choose another video source.”

  31. Anon says:

Using manycam 2.5, just ran into a couple issues though.

First one was that it force closes (Crashes) if you do not fill out the form for creating a new effect in order from top to bottom. (I cannot name everything then import my file.)

Second being if I exit out, none of my settings are saved. The Manycam logo comes back, all my imported pictures and videos are gone.

  32. MikeHawk says:

Yea Windows7 64bit this version doesn’t work either for me. As well as the guy w/32 bit Win7 it requires a shut down to close program from system tray. So whatever you’ve done it’s most definitely NOT stable for ppl using the windows operating systems. Which is everyone here. So feel free to hurry & fix it.
Oh & add audio to the recording features & make sure we can select sources. Like line-in or mic. KK Thx.

  33. Theo F. says:

    Win7PRO x64
    bugs
    1. 160×120 FME Cap is really bad
    2. Exiting ManyCam causes my system to close all programs and windows aero. pop up asks if i want to shut down / restart / log off.
    3. Readusting the update rate on desktop capture everytime i resize the area i want to capture.
    4. Limited desktop capture area.

p.s. good job with the update rate bar, just need to fix all the little annoying bugs and FME to get this program to a good product.

  34. Ivan says:

What about Ubuntu Linux 10.04 support? Will be there Linux version of your software, guys?

  35. Macoy says:

I downloaded the the latest version of ManyCam, and I do love it! But will there be an HD option so you can select 16:9 instead of the default 4:3? Not really fond with the black bars in place, but would be nice if there would be an option for that.

I’m saying this because there are more webcams being released that support 720p, and would be a great feature to have.

  36. PublicityMama says:

I have windows 7 64 Bit – I can’t get manycam to record my sound. (I broadcast alot and I know the recording settings of Stereo Mix etc)

Selected Stereo Mix did not record sound. Played around with the other recording features and none would record the sound.

I do get a fabulous video picture of what I am recording – just need advice on how to get manycam to record the sound.

I’ve used manycam for a few years and I love the new change!

    Thank you

  37. FoxMulder says:

Can’t play videos in the virtual cam. Every time I select a video, the program crashes. Also, the cvc video format this program records doesn’t play on my computer. VLC media players doesn’t have the codecs for it and when I try to play it in manycam, the software crashes.

  38. Sean says:

    This version sucks.

  39. Doug Maupin says:

Can we update The mac Version you ve been rolling the updates out for windows wheres the next mac version?

  40. Ale64 says:

As I make To transmit Audio of Films of ManyCam to Ustream Produce and Livestream Procaster, Thanks to All

  41. petr says:

Why does the video log so big? was due to be released here one day and 10 gigabytes video log what is this?? Why can not I set the video output resolution?

  42. Adam says:

Yo what the hell guys? As some people have already said, this version has many bugs and looks like it hasnt been tested.

When closing (right click and exit) it tells me to shut down my laptop. When I cancel this, all of my antivirus software has gone and so has my internet connection but ManyCam remains open. This is really annoying me!

  43. sumadre says:

When running manycam i get “Error Code: 0xC0150002 : The application failed to initialize properly. Click on Ok to terminate the application.”

    What’s the problem?

  44. baradon says:

Just wondering, is the “record” feature supposed to be fast forwarded? Oh, and it has no audio. Other than that, this is a great update!

  45. apples says:

Is there a way to change the webcam resolution? I can’t find any options to make it bigger than 320×240

  46. Andreas says:

    Playing WMV-Movies doesn’t work with ManyCam 2.5.
Please fix that bug as soon as possible, so that we can actually use this new and improved version of ManyCam.

Thanks alot for all the work.

  47. camarada says:

can you make a port for linux?

  48. John says:

We want the wmv bug fixed please!
And a codec for flv’s would be great!

  49. Adam says:

I have a solution to the part where it shuts down. If you already HAD manycam, you must remove it before installing the new one. If you’ve already installed the new one, just remove it and re-boot your computer then re-install. Worked for me.

  50. apples says:

ok i find the problem with changing the resolution. only the previous ver. Many Cam 2.4 allows you to change resolution size to 640x 480. that is too bad. I hope you ca fix this problem with the newer version.
