ManyCam 2.5 Released (Windows)

We are excited to announce the release of ManyCam 2.5, please download it now. We have made numerous improvements and introduced several new features along with making major enhancements to ManyCam’s video output module which have increased the application’s stability and reduced CPU and memory usage. Below is a summary of the most notable new features.

Picture in Picture

With ManyCam 2.5 you can broadcast video from two sources simultaneously. Enable the Picture In Picture mode to create a small video window inside the main one. For the second window you can select a separate input source. You can also move it around by Drag&Drop. Now you can use your webcam as the main video source and show your desktop in the smaller window at the same time. Or, if you have two webcams, you can broadcast video input from them simultaneously.

Recording Video Output

With ManyCam 2.5 you can record your video output (including ManyCam effects) and save it as a file. Just click the red record button, type a name for your video file and choose the location where it will be saved. With ManyCam 2.5 you can also pause and resume video playback with a single click.

Playlists

Now it’s possible to make a playlist consisting of numerous video sources that will play one after another. If you want to broadcast several video clips, you no longer have to select them one after another. You can include any video source in a playlist (a web-cam, a video file, a snapshot or even blank image) and set for how long it will play before switching to the next playlist item.

New Cool Effects

In ManyCam 2.5 we have introduced several new cool effects! These new effects are Night Vision, Thermal Vision, Cartoonizer, Matrix and Old Movie. You can find them under the Effects\Effects tab.  Please try them and let us know what you think.

I use the 2.5.48 on XP-pro and everything works good except …
Pip = picture in picture with 2 webcams.
I have 2 cams and in “standalone” both work proper without bugs, but when
    i …
    1) use cam1 as main and try to add cam2 as pip my PC crashes down
    with full-bluescreen and reboots.
    2) use cam2 as main and try to add cam1 as pip manycam tells me that it
cant contact the cam cause another prog still got the cam. – Thats not the truth, NO other prog got the cam before and after trying 2 get the cam the
“activation”-led of the cam lights up and the cam is blocked for any access.

I wrote a email to manycam and described the problem with further details before about 5 days and got no answer up to now. – Anyway,
this is a very fine prog and its freeware so i hope that this small important bug for me will be cleared with the next update or version.
Still A GREAT PROG WITH MUCH FUN !

  2. Raoul says:

Really, you should really make two new things:

    - Faster switching with camera’s
    - More than 1 textfield
    - Background music!!

    Thanks,

  3. epel says:

I dowmloaded the 2.5 and it works great on window 7 and I especially love the background feature. But when I open Skype and start a video call, my background photo disappears after half a second. Can someone help me withe the right settings so that my video calls in skype will maintain the beautiful ManyCam background effect ?

  6. Geloro says:

Is there a way to put a movie in fullscreen? I mean without the two black bands at top and bottom.

  7. Raoul says:

Also, when you want to record, and you play your video, it takes a few seconds till the video starts…

  8. Kerem says:

I have to to say that this version of Manycam is VERY unstable. If I could open a support ticket or contact Manycam some how i would, but this site does seem to lack in support, in my vision. I rarely come to http://www.manycam.com and i as a newb would expect to be able to contact Manycam’s support at least under the “Contact” page.

    1. The very first time I installed many cam and started it, it kept opening a mass amount off error messages cousin my computer to lag. it took 6 minutes to open task manager and close the process. I should have written down the error message and code but i reinstalled and the message doesn’t popup anymore.

    2. At times when I start to publish my cam in a chat room or anywhere else it will give me an error stating that the webcam could not be found.

    3. When I close Manycam from my task bar not only does it close Manycam, but it closes Paltalk (a chat program) or any other program that was using Manycam. Then my network icon, sound icon, action center icon, and batter icon disappears from the task bar, as if my computer were going to shut down.

    4. Manycam seem to use a lot of CPU usage when i publish my cam thrue it.

The features I have seen are really great tho!

Could it be that this version of Manycam has not yet been tested on all OS’s? I currently run Windows 7 Professional

  9. Suzanne Adams says:

the manycam won’t except my videos ….. it says it cannot play the video…but the older version works fine…I have windows 7…is there some secret I need to know about how to make it work?

  10. Suzanne Adams says:

also, sometimes when I pull up the manycam it is very small and hard to see…other times it is large…what causes that…I have tried minimizing and maximizing before and after opening…etc….

  11. Nice sofware.New version cant play wmv file.Old version do it well. What problem?

  12. Larry says:

  13. Sanjay says:

    Hi Team,

Thanks for making such a wonderful software. Amazing thing about this software is the fact that its FREE!!

I have installed this on Win7 32bit machine and uses this mc with yahoo msn etc. I am seeing a weird behavior when I try to click on Exit/Quit from the status bar icon > context menu, all the open applications are crashing including yahoo, msn, firefox (with or without adobe flash cam) etc. Any one else facing this issue?

Request the dev/test team to have a look, whether its repro at your end.

    Thanks in advance!

  14. shift2webcammax says:

Why was selection for the output resolution removed? I was expecting for an improvement. This looks like a downgrade not upgrade.

Correct me if I am wrong but I can’t find where to change my output resolution. Ican’t stream in higher quality.

  15. binet says:

last versin 2.5.48 don’t work in live messenger 2009 v. 14.0.8089.726 -blank image- but directly in manycam application work ???

  16. jon says:

it would be awesome if it was possible to load a directory instead of a single file. if you could implement that feature it would be highly appreciated. thanks!

  17. Cuber says:

Did you remove the ability to change resolution?
    Seriously, why?

  18. Kajko says:

ManyCam 2.5 unstable. I support the comments

  19. MY SOUND DOESENT WORK
everytime a play a video i made on manycam theres no sound
    PLEASE HELP

  20. Lawrence says:

Is this supposed to be beta or stable release???
If it’s beta, you should inform people about it and if it’s stable release you f****d it up big time!

    Downgrading.

  21. Justin says:

Like other users, I find the new ManyCam very… upsetting.

I used to use ManyCam quite frequently, until I upgraded and found a disturbing issue…

On two separate machines, one running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and another running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, ManyCam will cause nearly every running program to crash/close when you attempt to exit ManyCam. This occurs every time.

I have uninstalled ManyCam from both of my machines, and won’t be using it until the problem is fixed. Quite frankly, I’m appalled and surprised such a severe issue went unnoticed. Oh well…

  22. Baldeagle812 says:

Although I have unticked the “Show Manycam” logo every time I restart Manycam the logo reappears, is there a way of permanently stopping logo appearing?

    OS : Windows 7 64 bit
    ManyCam 2.5.48

  23. Franz says:

unfortunately YM does not recognize ne new manycam. With the old version it worked just fine. Anybody else having this issue?

    OS: WinVista

  24. robbo says:

I have been using manycam for a few years and until now have been satisfied with it however ver 2.5.48 does not work with yahoo messenger 10. You cannot change the preference to a manycam device – the manycam video source does not appear.

I have downgraded to version 2.4.69 but would like to have the features provided with 2.5 so if you can fix this….please do.

  25. fjan says:

    Using webcam 7 beta:
I also miss the force reslution option. I now only get 1/4 of the camera (top left) However stability has, for me, increased, for the video stream is now constantly available. If possible please make the force resolution option available again.

And shame on the people who feel they should be on the front line for support, this is a great freeware program, how the hell can you expect such support. You should be glad we’re able to leave a comment.

    Thanks for making this program!

  26. chzkildare says:

    ugh…

tried installing this twice on windows 7…64 bit

    Older manycam worked great!

This one, No .wmv support, unstable and buggy (non responsive)

    Causes multiple programs to crash.

It’s great that you added playlist support and pip, butwhat is the point if you cant open the video files to begin with? I would really also like some sort of winamp integration whenIm playing my mp3s, for the title to show up, like super webcam used to be able to do.

Downgrading myself back down until these issues are fixed.

  27. Zack says:

In reply to Justin, I have Windows 7 32-bit but I am having the same issue of Manycam closing every program on close and making my computer to try and shut down.

  28. Wayman29 says:

I just downgraded back to ManyCam 2.4.69. 2.5 seemed to still have a lot of issues. When I use it with skype is kicks on and off every 10 seconds. I need answers to a few simple questions. Who would make a video record option that could not also record sound??? Also why take out the resolution features? Why take out options that people find enjoyable and easy to use and tell me it’s an upgrade?? I understand that at times change is hard for people to take, but when options are taken away and replaced with no options it might be an issue. On the other hand what am I complaining about? It’s Free. If I wanted something that worked I would pay the 50 dollars. So you all might as well do what you want. LOL

  29. CTrev says:

Mine also crashes my OS every time I exit the app. Has there been a fix yet? I liked the refresh rate in 2.5 as oppose to 2.4. I don’t like having it crash my computer though.

Also, a way to display a partial desktop for those of us with 2 or 3 monitors would be nice. So I can display 1 monitor and use the other.

  30. Tony says:

Sorry to hear so many of you r having problems running the new version!? for me it works fine. play lists, movies DVX, XVID, FLV MPEG and so on. I’m running vista 64. t
and the only thing you have to keep in mind is that if your windows media player can play manycam will also, if not download proper codecs for win media player it works great for me I can even run 2 seperate movies in PIP or webcam over movies. Hope this help some of you.

  31. dont want to say says:

I had the 2.4 version . updated . the 2.5 deleted all my 187 backgrounds . all my effexts i had added. Also when I try to put a image on my background doesn´t let me and puts the background by default. THIS UPDATE DOESN´T LET ME PLAY MP3 OR .FLV VIDEOS. WHY DO I WANT THIS UPDATE FOR ? 2.5 IS AWFUL . BACK TO 2.4 AND MY 187 BACKGROUNDS ARE GONE

    I HATE YOU MANYCAM

  32. unknown woman says:

2.5 version shows my videos playing but there is NO SOUND! It will play the mgp videos though.
    Please help!!!

  33. unknown woman says:

    thats *MPG videos

  34. Anonymous says:

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

It is nice that you have finally gotten around to adding the obviously needed record option. It is however completely useless now that the custom desktop option will no longer allow me to make it small enough to record the things I want to record.

Guess it is time to go back to the drawing board. Try this…go to a stickam chatroom, use custom desktop on manycam 2.4 to get an exact copy of one of the docks…now try the same thing with 2.5.

  35. willy says:

    wow manycam 2.5 sucks
i loved 2.4 every worked just fine

now i only have problems -.- it doesnt work with windows live messenger
and its always stating by itself o-O
hope you fix that or no one will use it anymore

  36. igotbigbutts says:

why no upgrade for mac version? would a mac version get an upgrade too?

  37. a says:

Very good update on the desktop streamer, I like the frame rate adjuster.

    But

Very poor video playback. My videos keep messing up in the middle of playing at certain points. I remember a couple of small versions back WMVs were broken. I download youtube videos to stream them on a webcam stream, but some of them keep breaking.

It would be cool if you could stream youtube on Manycam.

  38. Apple guy says:

What about the upgrade for the mac version? Is it imminent?
